7 Ways to Practice Self-Care


Practicing self-care isn't always easy. With the demands of our jobs, and our busy lives it can be hard to actually practice self-care. Taking care of self is usually the last thing that is on our mind, but it should be one of our priorities.


1. Sleep.

  • As small as it may seem, sleep is extremely important. Not getting enough sleep can have a major toll on your body mentally and physically.

2. Say NO.

  • Saying no to others, and YES to yourself is so important. Learning to say no can be hard but it is well needed for your mental health. Once you start saying no to the request of others, you make more time for yourself.

3. Take a long, warm bath.

  • Taking a bath and relaxing after a long day could be just want you need.

4. Cook yourself a nice meal.

  • I dont know about you but cooking is refreshing, and I enjoy it. Cooking is relaxing, and it can put you in a good mood.

5. Spend time alone.

  • Spending time by yourself is the best type of self-care you can do. Spending time alone is relaxing because you can do what you want, and when you want.

6. Practice positive affirmations

  • Phrases such as, "I'm beautiful, or "today will be a good day" will go a long way. It will build your self esteem as wells and is good for your mental health.

7. Drink some wine.

  • A glass of day, keeps the stress away. LOL! But truly, nothing like having a glass or two of wine after a long stressful day.


Everyone definition of self-care will look different. Do not compare you self-care practices to other. Self-care is about taking care of your mental, emotional and physical health. It is essential to look after yourself.
